Helmet Art - it originated during the 1950's
as a distinctive way of identifying individual motorsport competitors, whose
helmets bore symbols or flags to denote nationality. Superstitious types added
personal touches and some would even insist on wearing the same helmet for the
whole season. 'Lucky designs' thus become associated with the performance and
personality of individual riders, a trend that continues today.
